Actress Tanushree Dutta has revisited her allegations against Nana Patekar following reports of his death, describing the actor as a “devil” and claiming that she endured years of pressure and harassment after speaking out against him.
In an interview with IANS published on Friday, October 9, Dutta explained why she reacted strongly to the news. She said only she knew what she had experienced during the five years following her allegations, which became part of India's #MeToo movement.
Dutta had previously accused Patekar of sexually harassing her during the filming of Horn 'Ok' Pleassss. Patekar denied the allegations, calling them false.
Tanushree Dutta recalls alleged threats during legal battle
Dutta claimed that she faced considerable pressure to withdraw her complaint. She alleged that attempts were made to change her mind with money and that other methods were used when those efforts failed.
Recalling some of the incidents she said she experienced, Dutta told IANS: “The brakes of my car were cut. I had an accident, food poisoning.”
She also spoke about a key witness in the case, whom she identified as her hairdresser. According to Dutta, it took five years to persuade the witness to come forward, and the woman allegedly faced threats.
Dutta said the witness had submitted an affidavit stating that she had personally witnessed what Dutta described in her complaint.
However, Dutta claimed that the case was closed by the judge on the day evidence from the key witness was due to be submitted. She argued that the outcome did not mean her allegations were untrue.
“We live in India. Here, it is not necessary that the one who wins is right. Here, no one won. The judge closed the case. But that does not mean that I was not right and he was not wrong,” she told IANS.
The allegations about threats, interference and other incidents are Dutta's claims and have not been independently established in the account provided.
Tanushree Dutta says God took Nana Patekar's life
Explaining her reaction to the news of Patekar's death, Dutta called him a “devil” and said she believed his alleged behavior toward her had continued for years.
“He was a very egoistic man, and God has taken his life because he was not stopping. He was harassing me constantly,” she said.
Dutta had shared a video reacting to the news, describing it as “evil dead,” according to IANS.
Her remarks bring renewed attention to the allegations she made against Patekar and the legal proceedings that followed. Patekar denied the accusations, and Dutta's statements about her experiences remain allegations rather than independently established findings.
