A woman in her mid fifties allegedly stabbed a teenage student studying at the Indiana University in the US multiple times in the head on a bus because the latter is an Asian, the New York Post reported.

The 56-year-old accused, identified as Billie Davis, told police that she attacked the student, an 18-year-old woman, for her race.

As per court documents obtained by WRTV, Indiana, Davis told the cops that the student “would be one less person to blow up our country.”

It was reported that the ghastly crime was committed when the victim was waiting for exit doors to open on a Bloomington Transit bus on Wednesday (11). The accused, who was on the bus, started striking her in the head, the police said in a release.

It was also said that the two women had no conversation prior to the attack.

The NY Post report said that the accused was charged with the battery until hospital doctors discovered seven stab wounds on the victim’s head.

On Thursday (12), the police spoke to the accused again and the latter admitted to using a folded knife in the attack. She was charged with attempted murder.

According to the police, the attack on the student was completely unprovoked.

It was also reported that a witness followed the accused after the attack to contact the police and give her location.

James Wimbush, vice president of diversity, equity and multicultural affairs, Indiana University, said in a statement, “This week, Bloomington was sadly reminded that anti-Asian hate is real and can have painful impacts on individuals and our community.”

“No one should face harassment or violence due to their background, ethnicity or heritage. Instead, the Bloomington and IU communities are stronger because of the vast diversity of identities and perspectives that make up our campus and community culture.”
