Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama Chhaava has achieved a major box office milestone, becoming the 11th highest-grossing Indian film of all time. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film narrates the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and has struck a chord with audiences across the country, especially in Maharashtra, where Maratha history holds deep cultural significance.
In just 18 days, Chhaava has earned approximately $56 million, surpassing the lifetime earnings of Baahubali – The Beginning (2015), which stood at $50 million. Other major titles like 2.0 (2018) and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire (2023) have also been overtaken, with 2.0 collecting $48 million and Salaar grossing $47.8 million.
Vicky Kaushal’s powerful portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj has been a key driver of the film’s success, earning critical acclaim and drawing massive crowds to theaters. Director Laxman Utekar, known for Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and Mimi, has once again delivered a compelling cinematic experience that resonates with audiences.
Internationally, Chhaava has also performed exceptionally well, particularly in North America, where it has crossed $5 million in earnings. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai, and Viineet Kumar Singh as Kavi Kalash.
Due to high demand, the Telugu trailer was recently released, with a Telugu-dubbed version set to premiere on March 7, further expanding the film’s reach. With strong domestic and international earnings, Chhaava continues its remarkable box office journey.
