Ahead of the film's theatrical release, distributor York Cinemas has introduced a special VIP-first booking system, giving select moviegoers exclusive early access to tickets before they become available to everyone else.
The phased booking plan highlights the strong demand for what is expected to be one of the biggest Tamil film releases of the year. Instead of opening ticket sales to the public all at once, York Cinemas is rolling out bookings in stages to manage the overwhelming interest from fans.
According to a statement released by the distributor on Wednesday (15), the first 24 hours of advance bookings are reserved exclusively for VIP members. This priority window also includes customers who had previously purchased tickets for the film and are still waiting for refunds, ensuring they receive the earliest opportunity to secure their seats.
The distributor explained that the exclusive access is part of a phased ticket release designed to reward loyal customers and address earlier booking issues.
VIP members will continue to receive priority access during the second and third days of ticket sales. Only after this exclusive booking period ends will tickets be made available to the general public.
York Cinemas also announced that ticket exchanges will not be processed online. Instead, anyone wishing to swap tickets must visit the theater's box office in person to complete the exchange.
The unique booking strategy has generated significant attention among Vijay fans, especially as anticipation builds for the actor's final appearance on the big screen before focusing full-time on politics.
The excitement isn't limited to Canada. Overseas demand has also been strong in other international markets. In the United Kingdom, distributor Ahimsa Entertainment reported selling thousands of tickets within the first hour after advance bookings opened, signaling the massive global interest in Jana Nayagan.
The film is scheduled to release in Indian theaters on July 23, one day ahead of its previously announced worldwide release date of July 24. Advance bookings in India are expected to begin soon.
Jana Nayagan recently completed a revised certification process after a minor modification. The film's runtime has been extended by 41 seconds, bringing the final running time to 3 hours, 3 minutes, and 52 seconds. The version screened in the United Kingdom will be presented completely uncut.
Another notable feature of the film will be its opening title slate, which is expected to read, "The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. Joseph Vijay," recognizing the actor's transition into politics ahead of what is being promoted as his farewell film.
