In a new revelation, it has been learnt that Aftab Amin Poonawalla, the Indian man who has been accused of murdering his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar and chopping her corpse into 35 pieces and disposing them of in various parts of Delhi, watched over 100 hours of the much-publicised defamation trial involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard after allegedly committing the heinous crime.

India Today cited Delhi Police as saying that Poonawalla watched the trial in detail, ranging from the issue of domestic abuse and the kind of attacks the celebrity duo had against each other.

The accused, who is in his late 20s, also studied the defamation trial extensively and according to the police, he may have used it to help himself during the time of interrogation and mislead the officers.

In the ghastly incident that reportedly took place in May, Poonawalla allegedly strangled Walkar and cut the body which he had kept in a 300-litre refrigerator for almost three weeks at his residence in south Delhi. He later dumped them across the metropolis over several days after venturing out in the dark of night.

He repeated the confession he made in a polygraph test during the narco test held on December 1 and said he had committed the act “in a fit of rage”.

The police were still hunting for the victim’s skull and some body parts.

Poonawala was arrested last month and sent to five-day police custody, which was extended by five days on November 17.

On November 26, the court sent him to judicial custody for 13 days.
