Kriti Sanon has shared one of her most personal decisions to date, revealing that she chose to freeze her eggs while preparing for her role in Mimi. Speaking on the Humans of Bombay podcast, the actor said she deliberately timed the procedure to coincide with the period when she was gaining weight for the film, making the physical changes easier to manage.
The 35-year-old described the decision as a practical one, explaining that it allowed her to plan for the future without feeling pressured by concerns about fertility or age.
Why Mimi became the right time
Sanon said she first learned about egg freezing through someone close to her, who described it as one of the best investments a woman could make for herself. The advice stayed with her, and when she had a two-month break to prepare physically for Mimi, she decided it was the ideal opportunity.
Because the treatment often causes bloating, she felt it made sense to undergo the procedure while she was already expected to gain weight for the film. The coincidence was particularly striking given that Mimi revolves around the subject of surrogacy.
She doesn't hide the difficult reality
The actor said the experience was far from easy. She spoke candidly about the hormonal changes, mood swings and significant bloating that came with the treatment, saying the emotional and physical effects were more intense than she had anticipated.
Despite those challenges, Sanon said she has no regrets. Instead, she believes freezing her eggs has removed the constant pressure associated with the biological clock, allowing her to make future decisions on her own timeline rather than feeling rushed.
Adding to a wider conversation
By speaking openly about her experience, Sanon joins a growing number of public figures who have discussed fertility preservation and reproductive choices.
Actors including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Ekta Kapoor, Mona Singh and Richa Chadha have also shared their decisions to freeze their eggs, saying the choice gave them greater flexibility in balancing their personal lives and careers.
For Sanon, the experience was about planning ahead rather than responding to societal expectations. While she acknowledged the physical and emotional demands of the procedure, she said it ultimately gave her reassurance and a greater sense of control over her future.
