ZENDAYA has been cast in the fifth installment of the animated fantasy series "Shrek," set for release in 2026.
She will voice the daughter of Shrek (Mike Myers) and Fiona (Cameron Diaz), joining the original cast that includes Eddie Murphy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Shrek 5" will be directed by Walt Dohrn, who previously worked on earlier films in the series as a writer and artist.
Brad Ableson will serve as co-director, while production will be handled by Gina Shay and Illumination founder Chris Meledandri.
The Shrek franchise is based on the 1990 book Shrek! by William Steig and is known for its satirical take on classic fairy tales.
The original film, released in 2001, won the first Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and spawned three sequels: “Shrek 2” (2004), “Shrek the Third” (2007), and “Shrek Forever After” (2010). A spin-off series focusing on Puss in Boots also followed.
Zendaya, known for her roles in “Dune: Part Two and Euphoria”, has several high-profile projects lined up, including “Dune: Messiah”, Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey”, a new “Spider-Man” film, and the third season of “Euphoria”.
