IN a move that would give relief to many Indian expats, Bahrain has removed India from a travel red list due to Covid-19 pandemic. While the middle-eastern kingdom has also removed Pakistan and the Dominican Republic from the list, its civil aviation authorities said they have added five more countries to the list, namely, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Slovenia, Costa Rica and Ecuador, starting Friday (3), its news agency BNA said.

The red list prohibits travellers arriving from the listed nations from entry unless they are citizens or residency visa holders of Bahrain.

As per the travel update, the PCR coronavirus tests that were done prior to the arrival in Bahrain are no longer required for those entering the country from the non-red list countries whose vaccination certificates are recognised, the agency added.

However, it was added that all passengers arriving in Bahrain will have to undergo PCR tests on arrival and on the fifth and 10th day of their stay.

Passengers from countries in the red list, including those who have transited through these countries in the preceding fortnight, will not be allowed entry to Bahrain, except for its citizens and foreign residents.

Among countries that still feature in Bahrain’s red list are Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Georgia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Iran, Iraq, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Uganda, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi.

In July, 16 countries were added to Bahrain’s red list and India was already included in the earlier-released list.
