INDIAN software services exporter HCL Technologies on Monday (6) said it will generate 12,000 new jobs in the US through the next five years as part of a plan to boost business and better client support in a key growth market, Reuters reported.

Nearly 2,000 of the new jobs will be aimed at college graduates over the next three years, the company said. It added that the focus of recruitment in the US will be in seven states, including North Carolina, Connecticut and Texas.

The hiring will be carried out across roles, including information technology c0nsulting, data analytics, cloud and digital engineering.

“It’s essentially becoming a global delivery centre network and in that scheme of things (being) in the local geography, customer proximity from the point of view of time zone becomes an important aspect of how we plan our delivery,” Ramachandran Sundararajan, executive vice president of Human Resources at HCL America Inc, told Reuters before the announcement.
