INDIA hammered defending champions England by 68 runs in Guyana on Thursday (27) to set up a T20 World Cup final showdown against South Africa.
England, who beat India by 10 wickets in the 2022 semi-finals, collapsed to 103 all out chasing 172 for victory, with spinners Kuldeep Yadav (3-19) and Axar Patel (3-23) sharing six wickets between them.
Earlier, India posted 171-7 in a rain-interrupted innings after losing the toss with captain Rohit Sharma making 57 -- his third fifty of the tournament -- and Suryakumar Yadav 47.

South Africa overwhelmed Afghanistan by nine wickets in the first semi-final on Wednesday to book their place in Saturday's final in Barbados.
Both India and South Africa have yet to lose a match at this tournament.

India will be bidding for their first major title since winning the 2013 Champions Trophy, having lost on home soil to Australia in last year's 50-over World Cup final.

A proposed $20 billion overhaul of the commercial rights to the FIFA World Cup is facing collapse after the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) joined a growing global rebellion against the plan.
On Friday, the Kuala Lumpur-based AFC—representing 47 member nations including regional powerhouses Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Australia—released a forceful statement confirming it "stands in solidarity" with European governing body UEFA and North American governing body CONCACAF in opposing the creation of 'FIFA Forward Enterprise' (FFE).
The proposed new commercial entity would see FIFA sell a 20% stake in the commercial rights of all global tournaments to private investors, notably Joshua Kushner's US-based firm, Thrive Capital.
"Unprecedented divisions"
The AFC's intervention elevates a fierce European dispute into a global governance crisis for FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
"The fact that the situation has reached the point where the real possibility of a FIFA World Cup boycott has entered public discourse should concern everyone who cares about the future of our game," the AFC statement read. "Football should never have been placed in such a position."
The AFC warned that the FFE proposal "cannot realistically achieve the necessary broad consensus and unity required to move forward," adding that any proposal risking the universal character of the World Cup must be reconsidered.
A critical shift in voting power
The move by the AFC is a severe blow to Infantino's strategy. To push the FFE project through the FIFA general assembly, Infantino requires a simple majority—106 votes from the 211 global member federations.
While the South American confederation (CONMEBOL) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have reportedly pledged support for the plan, the combined voting power of UEFA (55 votes) and CONCACAF (35 votes) was not enough to block it.
The addition of the AFC’s 46 voting members drastically shifts the balance of power, creating a formidable coalition of 136 potential votes against the privatization plan. Previously viewed as a stronghold for Infantino—having already pledged to vote for him en masse in the upcoming FIFA presidential election—the AFC's pivot underscores the severity of the backlash.
Condemning FIFA's governance
Beyond the financial implications of the $20 billion deal, the AFC leveled severe criticism at FIFA's operational opacity.
In a letter sent Thursday by AFC President Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa to member nations, FIFA’s leadership was accused of undermining the foundations of continental football.
"The AFC notes with great concern and disappointment that it was not consulted by FIFA at any level prior to the public announcement of this proposal," al-Khalifa wrote. He condemned the "unilateral actions" and the lack of detailed financial or legal analysis provided to the confederations, calling the process "totally unacceptable."
The AFC concluded its Friday statement by demanding that the "fundamental weaknesses in FIFA's consultation and decision-making processes" be immediately addressed, insisting that initiatives with a global impact must not emerge through sidelined administrative bodies.
UEFA is holding an emergency meeting of its 55 members this week to discuss further actions, with the threat of a World Cup boycott remaining on the table.
