BOTH houses of the Indian parliament on Monday (29), the first day of the winter session, passed the Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021.
Indian agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar tabled the bill in the Rajya Sabha soon after the house’s resumption after a temporary adjournment. The bill was circulated among the members of the house on Friday (26).

The Lok Sabha or the lower house of the parliament passed the bill earlier in the same day.
Prime minister Narendra Modi had on November 19 announced that the three farm laws would be repealed and urged the protesting farmers to return home. He made the announcement on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism.
The bill was cleared by the Modi Cabinet last week.
The winter session of the parliament, which witnessed sloganeering from the opposition members on the opening day, will conclude on December 23.
