THE fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in the northern state of Rajasthan on Sunday (24) remained witness to a bizarre incident. The match had to be stopped for some time in the first half after a wire of the spider cam above the ground snapped and fell below. The game was just two balls old when the incident took place. The ground staff members quickly rushed into the middle to remove the equipment but it took them some time to clean up things completely.
Rajasthan openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) and Jos Buttler (11) were batting at the time. Play resumed after a while without a fresh disruption. RR captain Samju Samson, who is also his team's wicket-keeper, won the toss and elected to bat and the one-time champions ended up with a competitive total of 193 for 4 in their 20 overs.
Samson was the top scorer with an unbeaten 82 off only 52 balls with the help of three fours and six sixes. Riyan Parag scored 43 and Dhruv Jurel, who recently played a big role in India's Test series victory over England, made a quickfire 20 not out off 12 balls.

For LSG, Naveen-ul-Haq, a medium pacer from Afghanistan, was the most successful bowler with two wickets for 41 runs. LSG are led by KL Rahul, who is making a comeback into competitive cricket after January when he played in the first Test against England in Hyderabad before getting ruled out with a quadricep injury.
RR and LSG have played three matches in which the former have won two as against the latter's one.
