VIRAT Kohli, who has quit Team India captaincy in T20Is, on Wednesday (10) thanked former national head coach Ravi Shastri and the support staff whose tenures ended with India’s unsuccessful campaign at the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Along with Shastri, the tenures of bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar also came to an end after India crashed out of the tournament in the group stage. Shastri will be replaced by former India captain Rahul Dravid when the team takes on New Zealand at home for three T20Is and two Tests later this month.

“Thank you for all the memories and the amazing journey we’ve had as a team with you all. Your contribution has been immense and will always be remembered in Indian cricket history. Wish you the best moving forward in life. Until next time,” Kohli, 33, said in a tweet.

In the time of Shastri, India played 43 Tests, out of which they won 25 and lost 13. In the limited-over formats, India played 76 one-day internationals and 65 T20Is, winning 51 and 43 games, respectively.

The Kohli-Shastri partnership saw India excelling in bilateral series but could not win any ICC Trophy despite being favourites on more than one occasion.
