Mahhi Vij found herself at the center of a tense exchange on the first day of Bigg Boss 20 after bringing up the divorces of fellow contestants Isha Rikhi and Mary Kom.
While chatting with Isha about the kind of conversations she enjoys, Mahhi said she likes gossip and then turned the discussion toward relationships inside the house. Referring to herself, Isha and Mary, she described the season as a “divorcee special.”
The remark immediately set an uncomfortable tone, particularly because Mahhi herself had separated from actor Jay Bhanushali in January 2026 after 14 years of marriage.
Isha Rikhi makes her stance clear
Mahhi later asked Isha why she had decided to join the reality show. Isha explained that she had always been private and wanted viewers to know her for her own identity rather than through her relationships.
“I don't want people to know me as someone’s girlfriend or wife. I want to be known for my name and identity,” Isha said.
The conversation became more awkward when Mahhi pointed out that Isha had been “all over the internet” for the previous two months.
Isha’s response highlighted her desire to move beyond public speculation about her personal life and establish herself on her own terms.
Mahhi brings up Mary Kom’s divorce too
Mahhi also attempted to discuss Mary Kom’s divorce, but the boxing champion refused to open up about the subject.
Isha was not comfortable with Mahhi’s repeated attempts either and questioned why she was so determined to make contestants discuss something they had clearly chosen to keep private.
The exchange added an early dose of tension to the new season, with personal boundaries becoming a point of conflict inside the house.
The divorces behind the conversation
Mahhi and Jay Bhanushali married in 2011 after dating for some time. They fostered two children, Rajveer and Khushi, in 2017 and welcomed their biological daughter Tara in 2019. The couple announced their separation in January 2026.
Isha had kept her relationship with rapper Badshah largely private before their marriage became public in 2026. The couple announced their separation last week.
Mary Kom married Karung Onkholer, popularly known as Onler, in 2005. They have four children and ended their marriage in December 2023. Mary publicly confirmed their separation in 2025.
With personal histories already making headlines outside the house, Mahhi’s decision to bring divorce into the Bigg Boss 20 conversation has now created one of the season’s earliest clashes.
