STAR WARS actor John Boyega, former Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley, and Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer are among the stars to feature in the Pirelli Calendar 2025, according to media reports.
The 2025 edition, titled Refresh and Reveal, was shot in Florida Keys in the US, during May and June this year and it also features La Haine actor Vincent Cassel, South Korean model Hoeyon Jung, The Neon Demon actor Jodie Turner-Smith, Italian singer Elodie Di Patrizi, model Connie Fleming, visual artist Martine Gutierrez, and American model Jenny Shimizu.
New York-based photographer Ethan James Green (34), the man behind the camera, told The Guardian that the time is right for celebrities to show some skin. “I think you know #MeToo, really forced everyone to pause, which is really good. And I think a lot of what sexy has become is like what we started seeing on people’s social media, usually through selfies,” Green told the daily.
In the latest edition, British actor Boyega is seen flaunting his muscular torso on the beach, Padma Lakshmi is in a thin see-through dress that exposes her breasts and the performance artist Martine Gutierrez is topless.
Green said the shoot aimed to “start back at the beginning, but then also figure out how that makes sense today.”
Pirelli’s UK arm has published the calendar annually since 1964, barring 2021 due to Covid pandemic, with limited availability. It is not sold, but given away to celebrities and select customers of the Italian tyre maker as a gift.
After the #MeToo disclosures, Pirelli calendars began capturing a fully-clothed cast. The return to nudity this year is in line with the recent fashion shows like Met Gala and the upcoming Victoria Secret’s show that is expected to hit the TV screens in November.
Green claims he is inspired by past Pirelli calendars, such as the one shot by Herb Ritts in 1994 featuring 90s supermodels Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford.
Last year’s edition saw Prince Gyasi become the first black photographer to shoot a Pirelli Calendar in celebration of its 60th anniversary.
