Indian actor and politician Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG 2 is officially moving forward.
Pawan Kalyan Creative Works confirmed to Variety that the sequel is currently in active development. The production is expected to begin after November this year. Discussions about the project will start once director Sujeeth returns from abroad.
The production company also addressed the timeline in a post on X.
“As promised, he will. The timing, he will let us know. Once @Sujeethsign returns from abroad, we will discuss,” the post read.
The announcement follows the success of They Call Him OG, the Telugu-language crime action drama that was released in 2025.
The film tells the story of Ojas Gambheera, a retired gangster who returns to Bombay in 1993 after spending a decade in exile. He comes back to take on a rising crime boss named Omi Bhau.
Produced by DVV Entertainment, the film earned $35 million worldwide. It became the ninth highest-grossing Indian film of 2025.
The success of They Call Him OG added to Pawan Kalyan’s long list of commercially successful films. His 2012 film Gabbar Singh marked a major comeback and became a blockbuster hit. Attarintiki Daredi (2013) went on to become the highest-grossing Telugu film of its time.
More recently, Vakeel Saab (2021) and Bheemla Nayak (2022) also performed strongly at the box office during the post-pandemic period.
Director Sujeeth, who previously directed Saaho, wrote and directed They Call Him OG. He created the character of Ojas Gambheera around Pawan Kalyan’s on-screen image.
Music composer Thaman S worked with Kalyan for the fourth time on the film. His score played an important role in supporting the film’s commercial success.
Production on the first film took place while Kalyan balanced his political responsibilities after becoming the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
With the sequel now officially confirmed, attention has turned to the next chapter of Ojas Gambheera’s story. The return of Sujeeth from abroad is expected to begin formal discussions on the project.
What had been the subject of rumors has now moved into confirmed territory, with They Call Him OG 2 set to become the next installment in the successful franchise.
