When his teacher requested him for help to improve the infrastructure of a school in the southern Indian state of Telangana, he responded at once even as he is settled in the US.

Parikipandla Prasanth, who hails from Ponkal village of Mamada Mandal in Nirmal district of the state, donated Rs 1 lakh (£996) to better the infrastructure of the Telangana State Model School in Boath in Adilabad district of Telangana, Telangana Today reported this month.

The non-resident Indian made the contribution after M Umesh Rao, a teacher from his school and currently the principal of the model school, appealed for his former student’s support to buy chairs and develop a playground for students in the school.

Prasanth transferred the money online and it was handed over to the school management committee, Rao said, according to the report.

Prasanth moved to Chicago, US, seven years ago, and is an established software engineer there. He makes similar monetary contributions to support other government schools in his district.
