Indian actors no longer need to prove they belong in Hollywood, according to Vidyut Jammwal, who believes performers before him have already established the industry's global presence. As he prepares to make his Hollywood debut in Street Fighter, the action star has credited Priyanka Chopra Jonas for helping open doors for Indian talent internationally.
In an interview with Variety India, Vidyut reflected on the growing visibility of Indian performers in international entertainment. He suggested that opportunities now depend on the decisions of both Hollywood franchises and Indian actors, rather than on whether Indian talent can succeed in global productions.

Vidyut singled out Priyanka as an example of an Indian performer who has already made a significant mark in the West. He argued that Indian actors have established their presence internationally and that the industry is no longer at the stage of having to prove its capabilities.
"We've had people like Priyanka Chopra who's already done it for us. We have people who've already made a mark over there. We're on the path. It's for the West to decide if an Indian actor can be a part of their franchise or if an Indian actor wants to go there. It's quite an open thing. We're there and there's nothing more to be done. They know about us. We know about them," he said.
Priyanka made her American television debut in 2015 with Quantico, playing FBI recruit Alex Parrish. She subsequently built an international career through film and television projects, becoming one of the most prominent Indian performers to establish a sustained presence in the Western entertainment industry.
Vidyut's comments recognize the groundwork laid by performers who pursued opportunities abroad, helping make Indian talent more familiar to international audiences.

Why Vidyut believes Indian actors have nothing left to prove
Vidyut's remarks reflect a shift in how Indian performers can approach international projects. Rather than treating Hollywood as a destination where they must first demonstrate their worth, he believes Indian actors have already shown that they can contribute to global productions.
He also pointed to the increasing international visibility of Indian cinema, referencing projects such as Ramayana: Rise of a Legend and Varanasi while discussing the industry's expanding global presence.
His perspective places the emphasis on access, creative choices and opportunities, suggesting that the next step is not simply proving Indian actors can compete internationally, but ensuring they are considered for roles in major global franchises.

Vidyut is preparing to enter that arena himself with Street Fighter, a live-action adaptation of the popular video game franchise. He will play Dhalsim, bringing his action-film background to an internationally recognized property.
Discussing his decision to join the film, the actor indicated that the writing behind his character was a major attraction.
"It is the first one. I think it was author-backed for me," he said.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 16, 2026. The cast includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. Jason Momoa is also part of the ensemble.
For Vidyut, the project marks a new chapter in his career, and an opportunity to test his action credentials on a global stage. His message, however, is clear: Indian performers are no longer unknown quantities in Hollywood.
