WATCH: When India railways minister showed something to Apple chief Tim Cook & he said ‘wow!’

Indian railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday (20) shared on Twitter a video clip of his conversation with Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook about the Chenab bridge coming up in the northern Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Cook met a number of Indian leaders, including prime minister Narendra Modi and Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Wednesday (19). He was in Delhi to flag off Apple’s second store in India after the one in Mumbai on Tuesday (18).

In the video short on a ‘Made in India iPhone’ which the minister said in the caption, Cook was heard saying, “Oh wow, that’s special wow” after he was explained about the bridge which will be the world’s highest railway bridge, higher even than the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The bridge is being built at a height of 359 metres (Eiffel Tower is 330 metres tall) at an estimated cost of Rs 1,440 crore and is located between Bakkal and Kauri in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The video of 26 seconds duration shows a part of the conversation between Vaishnaw and Cook.

“This bridge connects the northern state of Kashmir. And this bridge is about 30 metres taller compared to the Eiffel Tower,” Vaishnaw said, to which the Apple chief replied, “Wow.”

The Indian minister then said, “Again, fully designed in India, we recently commissioned the railway track over it. And by December we will be running the Vande Bharat train on this.”

Cook then said, “Oh wow! that is special! Wow!”

Vande Bharat Express is a popular semi-high-speed train which is being inaugurated by Modi in various parts of the country and the train is being considered as a new face of the Indian railways.

The video was received well by netizens as it was viewed more than 664k times and received 22k likes at the time of writing this report.

Reactions also poured in for the video clip.

“Shot on Made in India iPhone!! Shows India’s journey from the bottom to being on the top!” said one user.

“Innovative, dedication and hardwork at its best,” wrote another.

“From his first visit to now, India has changed a lot.. now future #iphones will be #MakeInIndia brand. Look at the confidence on his face and our @AshwiniVaishnaw sir displays all on a screen…” said another.

Vaishnaw also presented Cook a miniature replica of the Vande Bharat Express train.

“Met with @tim_cook, CEO, Apple. Discussed deepening Apple’s engagement in India across manufacturing, electronics exports, app economy, skilling, sustainability and job creation especially for women. Jointly charting a long-term and strong relationship,” he later wrote on Twitter.
