Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had a special way of wishing Amitabh Bachchan on his 84th birthday. Instead of sharing a solo picture of the Bollywood icon, she posted a photograph of him embracing his granddaughter, Aaradhya Bachchan.
Along with the picture, Aishwarya wrote, "Happy Birthday, dearest Pa-Dadajiii. Love and God bless always."
The affectionate caption and the photograph quickly caught attention online. But this was not the first time Aishwarya had chosen to celebrate her father-in-law by highlighting his relationship with Aaradhya. A look back at her previous birthday posts reveals a familiar pattern.
2024: The same grandfather-granddaughter bond
When Amitabh celebrated his 82nd birthday in October 2024, Aishwarya again shared a photograph of him with Aaradhya.
The image showed Amitabh holding his granddaughter close, accompanied by the message, "Happy Birthday Pa-Dadaji. God Bless always."
The post was simple, but the choice of photograph was significant to the story. Aishwarya could have shared a picture of Amitabh alone or one from a film event. Instead, she highlighted a family moment between the veteran actor and Aaradhya.
2020: Aaradhya Was Part Of The Birthday Wishes Then, Too
The pattern goes back further. On Amitabh's 78th birthday in October 2020, Aishwarya shared two Instagram posts featuring the actor with Aaradhya, including a photograph of the three of them together.
One message read, "LOVE YOU ALWAYS DADAJI. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY DEAREST DADAJIIIII."
In another post, she wrote, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST Dadaji-PA. MUCH LOVE, GOOD HEALTH, PEACE AND HAPPINESS ALWAYS... and your Blessings Always."
The posts made Aaradhya part of the birthday greeting rather than leaving the occasion as a message from daughter-in-law to father-in-law alone.
A small family tradition that has lasted years
Across the three birthdays, the details have changed, but Aaradhya's presence has remained a recurring feature of Aishwarya's public wishes for Amitabh.
The messages also reflect the affectionate names used within the family, from “Dadaji-Pa” to the more recent “Pa-Dadajiii.” The photographs offer glimpses of Amitabh not just as a celebrated actor, but as a grandfather sharing a moment with his granddaughter.
