Dhanush has postponed the release of his upcoming action drama OM, moving away from its October 16 date to avoid a crowded release period involving two of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, Rajinikanth and Suriya.
The film was originally scheduled to open on October 16, one day after Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 on October 15. Suriya’s Scene is also expected to release around Diwali on November 6.
Why did Dhanush postpone OM?
In a statement, Dhanush said the decision was based on respect for fellow filmmakers and actors and what he believes is best for Tamil cinema.
He also noted that Suriya’s team had announced its release plans first, adding that major films should give each other space rather than compete for the same audience.
When will OM release?
A new release date for OM has not yet been announced.
The postponement has received attention from fans and industry figures, with many praising Dhanush for choosing to move his film rather than add to the competition during an already busy release period. Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is scheduled for October 15, while Suriya’s Scene is set for the Diwali period on November 6.
