Indians witnessed a day filled with colourful celebrations and fanfare on Monday (15) as their country, India, completed 75 years since turning independent on August 15, 1947. Events were held across the country despite unfavourable weather in certain parts with leaders from across political parties participating in them.
Prime minister Narendra Modi delivered a long speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion to live up to the tradition vowing to address challenges that the country faces and seeking the countrymen's cooperation to make India a developed country in another 25 years.
