India has raised with Bangladesh the matter of attacks on Hindu temples on the latter’s soil in a bilateral meeting, India Today has reported citing sources.

During the discussion which took place on the sidelines of the third ‘No Money for Terror Ministerial Conference on Counter-Terrorism Financing’ event which kicked off in New Delhi on Friday (18), the two sides also spoke over the border fencing between them, the report added.

Indian home minister Amit Shah, who took part in the conference, raised the matter of attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh with his counterpart from that country, Asaduzzaman Khan.

The two countries spoke on border management and common security-related issues, the India Today report added.

Reports of vandalism of idols of Hindu deities in temples have emerged from Bangladesh in the recent past over which India also expressed concerns.

While violence was reported during the Durga Puja festival in Bangladesh in October last year in which a few lives were also lost, in July this year, temples, shops, and several houses belonging to Hindus were vandalised in the country’s southwestern part by a group of miscreants over a Facebook post that allegedly belittled Islam.
