IPL 2023 auction: 405 players to go under the hammer in Kochi on December 23

The players’ list for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction is out and as per reports, 405 cricketers will go under the hammer in Kochi in the southern state of Kerala on December 23.

According to reports, 369 players were shortlisted by 10 teams from the initial list of 991. Later, teams requested for 36 additional players who were added to take the total number to 405 to be presented at the auction.

Out of the 405, 273 players are from India while the remaining 132 are foreigners, including four from associate nations. Barring the four, 119 players are capped and 282 uncapped.

A total of 87 slots are available with up to 30 being kept for the overseas players.

A sum of Indian rupees two crore (£196,336) is the highest reserve price with 19 overseas players preferring to be slotted in the highest bracket.

While 11 players are in the auction list with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore (£147,252), Indian batters Manish Pandey and Mayank Agarwal are two Indian players in the list of 20 cricketers with a base price of Rs 1 crore (£98,168).

The auction will kick off at 4.30 pm local time.
