After releasing three songs from its soundtrack-"Jab Talak," "Mashooqa," and "Tujhko," the makers of Cocktail 2 have finally unveiled the trailer for their much-anticipated summer release. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, the film is being presented as a spiritual successor to the 2012 hit Cocktail, which featured Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty.

The trailer, which runs for more than three minutes, opens with Shahid Kapoor’s character reflecting on how relationships become complicated when friendship and love become intertwined. As he struggles with the situation, Kriti Sanon’s character responds with a playful suggestion: “Like a threesome.”

The line immediately sets the tone for a story that blends romance, friendship, humor, and emotional drama.

The opening scenes focus on Shahid and Kriti’s characters spending time together and enjoying each other’s company. At the same time, Shahid makes it clear that he is not her boyfriend. Their bond appears close, but its exact nature remains undefined.

The situation changes when Rashmika Mandanna’s character enters the picture. She appears to be romantically involved with Shahid, and the three gradually begin spending more time together. The trailer showcases several joyful moments between them as they travel, celebrate, and strengthen their connections.

As the story progresses, Rashmika’s character takes a major step in her relationship with Shahid by proposing marriage. At that point, everything appears to be moving in the right direction.

However, the atmosphere shifts dramatically when Kriti’s character says, “Sab apni apni expiry date ke saath aate hain, aur expiry date ke baad toh dawa bhi zehar ban jaati hai.”

The dialogue signals a turning point in the narrative.

From there, the trailer moves into emotionally charged territory as the relationship between the three characters becomes increasingly complicated. Friendship begins to break down, emotions intensify, and misunderstandings start taking center stage.

One of the most intense moments arrives when Rashmika’s character confronts Kriti, asking, “Dosti ki koi value nahi hai na tujhe?”

Kriti responds sharply, “Utne ache dost bhi nahi hai.”

The exchange hints at a growing conflict between the two women, seemingly linked to their connection with Shahid’s character. As tensions rise, the trailer reveals glimpses of arguments, heartbreak, and emotional fallout.

The conflict eventually escalates into a physical confrontation, with Kriti and Rashmika seen fighting each other.

The trailer closes with Shahid delivering a punchline that adds a touch of swagger to the chaos unfolding around him. He says, “Main heera nahi, Kohinoor hoon. Itna aasaan nahi mujhe khareedna.”

While the trailer offers a clearer understanding of the central love triangle, it still leaves many questions unanswered, keeping much of the story under wraps.

The songs released before the trailer had already provided clues about the relationships between the three lead characters.

The music video for “Mashooqa” focused on Shahid and Kriti’s evolving bond. Set against beaches and vacation destinations, the song portrayed a relationship that seemed to exist somewhere between friendship and romance.

Meanwhile, “Tujhko” explored the college romance between Shahid and Rashmika’s characters. The song follows their relationship as they deal with long distance after Rashmika’s character moves overseas for higher studies. Despite the separation, they continue making efforts to stay connected through visits and virtual communication.

Now, with the trailer finally out, audiences have a much better understanding of the dynamics between the three leads. At the same time, significant parts of the story remain a mystery, leaving viewers to discover how the complicated relationships unfold when the film reaches theaters.
