Peddi, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, received mixed reviews from critics and audiences after its release on June 4.

The film also attracted controversy over the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor's character. Many viewers criticized the movie for objectifying women, sparking discussions online about how female characters are represented in Telugu cinema.


Amid the debate, a report by Bollywood Hungama claimed that Janhvi Kapoor was paid around $930,000 for Peddi.

According to the report, the actress earned about $580,000 for Devara. If the figures are accurate, her fee for Peddi marks an increase of roughly 50 per cent.

A trade source was quoted as saying, "This is the biggest pay cheque of her career, and she was a thorough professional on the sets of Peddi. She was paid Rs. 5 crores for Devara, and this is a jump of about 50 per cent from Devara. With back-to-back success in the Telugu film industry with Devara and Peddi, Janhvi is considered to be the woman with a golden leg in the fraternity, commanding a 100 per cent success ratio."

The source also claimed that Janhvi Kapoor will next star in director Atlee's upcoming film Raka alongside Allu Arjun.

In Hindi cinema, she is also reportedly set to appear in Lag Ja Gale with Tiger Shroff and Lakshya.

The trade source added, "Janhvi is offered multiple projects in Telugu now, and the pay cheque for Peddi has set the benchmark high."

Meanwhile, actress Dimple Hayathi publicly supported Janhvi Kapoor following criticism of her role in Peddi.

On Sunday (7), Dimple Hayathi shared a message on X, saying the blame should not be placed on actresses for roles they accept.

"I’m so glad today on this day we all are speaking about how actresses roles are being written and the instinctive response to blame actress after doing what she was offered, don’t blame the actress blame the system and makers who really think that’s what sells .. and we actors get to work within the opportunities what we get trying to make it big and hoping we would be working in bigger films and reach wider audiences," she wrote.

Her comments added to the wider discussion about the portrayal of women in films and whether responsibility lies with actors or the creators behind such roles.
