JAKE GYLLENHAAL is set to lead filmmaker M Night Shyamalan’s upcoming supernatural romantic thriller.
The film is based on an original story co-created by Shyamalan and bestselling author Nicholas Sparks.
Shyamalan and Sparks are independently developing their own versions of the story — Shyamalan as a screenplay for the film, and Sparks as a novel.
While both projects share the same concept and characters, they will be adapted differently for their respective mediums.
Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan will produce the film through Blinding Edge Pictures, along with Sparks’ producing partner Theresa Park and Marc Bienstock.
Discussions are underway with Warner Bros for a theatrical release.
This is Shyamalan’s first collaboration with a high-profile writer like Sparks, known for novels such as “The Notebook” and “Dear John”, many of which have been adapted into films. Plot details remain under wraps.
