JOHNNY DEPP and Penelope Cruz will star in “Day Drinker”, an action thriller from Lionsgate, directed by Marc Webb.
The film follows a cruise ship bartender who becomes entangled with a mysterious day drinker, leading to unforeseen connections in the criminal world.
Madelyn Cline has been added to the cast. Best known for “Outer Banks”, she has also appeared in “Stranger Things”, “Boy Erased”, and “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”.
This marks the fourth time Depp and Cruz are working together, having previously co-starred in “Blow”, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, and “Murder on the Orient Express”.
Lionsgate executive Chelsea Kujawa is overseeing the project, while Dan Freedman handled deal negotiations.
For Depp, this is his most significant project following controversies from his divorce from Amber Heard.
His recent directorial film, “Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness”, premiered at the Rome Film Festival. Cruz was last seen in the 2023 film “Ferrari”.
