Modi visits ailing mother Heeraben at Ahmedabad hospital; Rahul Gandhi wishes her speedy recovery

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (28) visited his mother Heeraben Modi who was admitted in a hospital in Ahmedabad in the western state of Gujarat on Tuesday (27) night after her health deteriorated.

A statement from UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre said the condition of Heeraben, who is 99 years old, is stable.

A number of top politicians of the state, including chief minister Bhupendra Patel, health minister Rushikesh Patel, and others also visited the hospital.

Modi, who often shares pictures of the moments that he shares with his mother, met her recently during campaigning for the elections in Gujarat earlier this month.

Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wish Heeraben speedy recovery

Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, one of Modi's top critics, wished the latter's mother a speedy recovery after her admission in the hospital.

Taking to Twitter, Rahul, a former president of his party, said in Hindi, "The love between a mother and a son is eternal and priceless. Modi ji, my love, and support is with you in this difficult time. I hope your mother gets well soon."

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also wished for PM Modi's mother's speedy recovery and said, "We all are with him (PM Modi) in this hour."

In the past, Modi has wished a speedy recovery to Sonia Gandhi, the mother of Rahul and Priyanka, whenever she has fallen sick.
