Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan celebrated 14 years of marriage with a dose of humour on The Great Indian Kapil Show, where Saif shared a glimpse of his wife’s unusual bedtime routine. The actor revealed that Kareena rubs ghee on her feet at night, prompting him to joke that their bedroom smells like a dhaba.
Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Punjabi love for ghee has found its way into her bedtime routine, according to husband Saif Ali Khan, who shared the amusing detail while the couple celebrated 14 years of marriage on The Great Indian Kapil Show.
In a promotional clip released by Netflix on Friday (16), host Kapil Sharma asked the couple about the secret behind looking “forever young and fresh” after 14 years together. Saif credited ghee for their youthful appearance, while Kareena pointed out that it was a staple in their household.
Saif then revealed that his wife’s relationship with the traditional Indian staple extends beyond the dinner table.
“She doesn't only eat it but even rub it on her feet at night,” he quipped, prompting Kareena to agree: “It helps you so well.”
The actor then delivered the punchline, joking in Hindi: “Aap socho itni acchi romantic baat ki humare bedroom mein dhaba jaisa smell aa raha hai raat ko,” imagining a romantic moment interrupted by a bedroom that smells like a roadside eatery.
The exchange drew laughter from the audience, with Kapil adding his own joke about Archana Puran Singh applying ghee to her feet and then supposedly reusing it on her chapatis.
A Punjabi household tradition
For Kareena, who comes from the Punjabi Kapoor family, ghee is more than just a cooking ingredient. The clarified butter is a familiar feature of many Punjabi kitchens, traditionally used in dishes ranging from parathas to dals and sweets. It is also associated with home remedies and beauty rituals in some Indian households.
Saif’s anecdote offered a playful glimpse into how such traditions can extend into everyday family life. However, the episode did not establish whether Kareena’s practice is specifically a Punjabi tradition or simply her personal bedtime ritual.
Celebrating 14 years together
The ghee confession came as the couple marked their 14th wedding anniversary on October 16. Kareena and Saif married in a private ceremony at his Bandra residence in Mumbai in 2012, after falling in love while working together on the 2008 film Tashan. They have two sons, Taimur and Jeh.
The couple also marked the occasion on social media. Kareena shared unseen photographs with the caption, “Another year around the sun, forever to go.” Saif, who recently joined Instagram, posted family portraits and wrote, “There we go, that's perfect!! Happy Anniversary Love.”
The anniversary special of The Great Indian Kapil Show is scheduled to stream on Netflix on Saturday, October 17.
On the work front, Kareena was last seen in Meghna Gulzar’s crime thriller Daayra, alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran. Saif recently appeared in Priyadarshan’s Haiwaan, which also stars Akshay Kumar.
