After two films built around secrets, deception and Vijay Salgaonkar's extraordinary ability to stay one step ahead of the police, Drishyam: The Conclusion appears ready to change the balance of power.
The trailer for the third Hindi installment has now been released, offering the clearest glimpse yet at what audiences can expect from the final chapter. Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay, while Tabu reprises her role as Meera Deshmukh. This time, however, Meera appears to be done simply pursuing justice. The trailer points toward something far more personal: revenge.
And Vijay may finally have run out of ways to protect his family.
Tabu's Meera Deshmukh is back, but she's not the same
Meera has always been one of the most important forces in the Drishyam story. Her determination to uncover what happened to her son has kept the Salgaonkar family under pressure across the franchise.
In the new film, that emotional conflict appears to intensify.
The trailer suggests that new evidence may have emerged, reopening the case and putting Vijay and his family in danger once again. Meera is no longer simply trying to solve an old mystery; she appears determined to settle the score.
That shift could make Tabu's character one of the biggest emotional drivers of the final film.
For audiences who watched Vijay repeatedly outsmart investigators, the question is now different: Can he protect his family when the person hunting him knows his history and refuses to let the case die?
A new police threat changes the game
The biggest addition to the franchise is Jaideep Ahlawat, who enters the story as Crime Branch officer Rajveer Singh Tomar.
His arrival gives the police pursuit a new dimension. Rather than simply repeating the cat-and-mouse dynamic of the previous films, the third installment introduces another investigator capable of putting pressure on Vijay.
Prakash Raj also joins the cast, adding another significant new presence to the story.
The result is a much bigger confrontation surrounding the Salgaonkar family. Vijay's carefully constructed story is under threat, while Meera's personal desire for revenge appears to make the stakes even more dangerous.
What does Tabu think about the end?
Interestingly, Tabu does not appear ready to say goodbye to Meera, or the Drishyam universe, just yet.
At the trailer launch, she reflected on the audience's response to Drishyam 2 and suggested that she would not consider the door permanently closed unless the filmmakers themselves declared that the story was finished.
“The excitement that people have is something that I will always treasure, apart from the intensity of this character and the range of emotions that she got to play. I am not saying goodbye to this unless Kumar ji and Abhishek give us something on paper saying that it will never be made again. Then we will believe it. Otherwise, you never know. Kumar ji will call up and say, 'Abhishek ne ek outstanding thought nikal liya hai 4 ke liye.”
Her comments are particularly intriguing because Drishyam: The Conclusion is being positioned as the final chapter of the Hindi franchise. The film is also taking a different creative route from the Malayalam series, with the Hindi story heading toward its own conclusion. Ajay Devgn has said the team spent more than two and a half years developing the screenplay and hopes the original creators, Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph, will watch the Hindi film and share their response.
For now, the biggest mystery remains unanswered: will Vijay finally be caught, or does he have one last master plan left?
