SOCIAL media giant Twitter witnessed major changes in its management ranks after India-born Parag Agrawal took over as its new chief executive officer from co-founder Jack Dorsey earlier this week.

Dantley Davis, who ran the company’s design and research, and Michael Montano, the engineering lead, are exiting, Bloomberg reported citing the US company saying in a regulatory filing.

Davis, who joined Twitter in 2019 after three years at Meta Platforms Inc., has been a controversial figure in the company, with some employees telling the New York Times that his management style didn’t fit Twitter’s culture.

Three other Twitter executives are getting new “general manager” titles. Kayvon Beykpour, the top consumer product executive, will become the general manager for consumer products; Bruce Falck will become general manager for revenue products and Nick Caldwell will become general manager for “core tech”. He will essentially succeed Agrawal who was formerly Twitter’s chief technology officer.

In its filing, Twitter said the moves are part of an effort “to drive increased accountability, speed, and operational efficiency”.

The departures are effective on December 31 and both the executives will remain advisers through the first quarter of 2022, Twitter added, according to the Bloomberg report.

Dorsey, who had been leading Twitter for the last six years, stepped down on Monday (29), citing a desire for the social media giant to be “free of its founder’s influence or direction”.
