It was an off day for himself and his team on the ground, but Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli had a terrific finishing touch to the day with a meeting with actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Khan, who is a co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) that hammered RCB by 81 runs in a one-sided Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 affair at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in the eastern state of West Bengal on Thursday (6), rushed to embrace Kohli soon after the game finished and before they started a conversion that lasted several seconds, the Bollywood star even tried to teach the cricketer the popular ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’ dance move from his latest film ‘Pathaan’ that became a blockbuster.

Kohli failed to score many runs in the match, falling for only 21 off 18 in the bowling of veteran spinner Sunil Narine who castled him.

In a video that went viral, Khan was seen teaching Kohli to shake a leg with him. While that did not go for too long, the 34-year-old cricketer was visibly thrilled by the interaction with Khan, who has also acted opposite Anushka Sharma, Kohli’s actor-producer wife, in many Hindi films.

Khan was also seen embracing Shardul Thakur, the KKR hero who helped the side with a stunning 29-ball 68 knock and a wicket. He was adjudged the player of the match. The actor also congratulated Nitish Rana, who is captaining the Knight Riders in the current edition in the absence of injured Shreyas Iyer.

He later went on a victory lap, thanking and greeting fans who had turned up at the iconic venue in huge numbers.

The win saw KKR catapulting to the third place in the points table after they lost their opening game against Punjab Kings in a rain-curtailed match on Saturday (1).

RCB, on the other hand, crushed five-time champions Mumbai Indians by eight wickets in their first match on Sunday (2) before the loss against KKR. Kohli hit an unbeaten 82 off just 49 balls in that game.
