INDIA will take New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday (15). The hosts have won all their nine matches in the tournament played so far — their most consecutive wins at the marquee event — and secured the top position in the points table.

New Zealand, who finished as the runners-up in the 2015 and 2019 editions, losing to hosts Australia and England, respectively, in the title clash, had a trickier test in hand despite winning their first four games. They lost their next four but won the ninth to confirm their place in the knockouts.

The India-New Zealand semi-final will be a re-run of the same held in the 2019 edition when the Kiwis won by 18 runs, leaving billions of Indian fans heartbroken.

It will be the eighth time that the Asian side will play in a World Cup semi-final while for New Zealand, it will be the ninth time. India have won three and lost four semi-finals they have featured in so far while the Black Caps won two and lost six semi-finals they have played so far.
