Actor Alia Bhatt made a striking appearance at the 79th Cannes Film Festival in France, delivering two standout fashion moments. This marked her second appearance at Cannes after her debut in 2025.
For her red carpet walk as a L'Oréal Paris ambassador, Bhatt wore a blush-toned gown designed by Tamara Ralph. The strapless outfit featured a curved bustier neckline and a structured corset-style bodice that highlighted her silhouette. A flowing dupatta-inspired drape around her arms added an Indian touch to the overall look.
Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Bhatt completed the outfit with a gemstone necklace and matching earrings. Her soft glam appearance quickly became one of the most talked-about looks from the festival opening.
Earlier in the day, Bhatt appeared at Hotel Martinez in another custom-designed outfit by designer Yash Patil. The gown was inspired by 1950s fashion and featured angular cups, a drop waist, and a voluminous skirt made with ombre-dyed silk organza and tulle.
According to the official statement, “It was inspired by the iconic silhouettes of the 1950s, featuring a structured bodice with angular cups, a drop waist, and a voluminous skirt layered with ombre-dyed silk organza and tulle. The look seamlessly blends vintage couture with modern elegance."
The statement also added, "Hand-painted by Basuri Chokshi (@basuri) as an ode to the French Riviera, the artwork captures its dreamy landscapes, lavender fields, and timeless romance, transforming the ensemble into a wearable piece of art."
Bhatt first attended Cannes in 2025, where she wore a custom Gucci outfit inspired by the sari. This year’s Cannes festival is expected to feature several Indian celebrities, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karan Johar, Mouni Roy, Tara Sutaria, and Pooja Batra.
Meanwhile, Urvashi Rautela also grabbed attention with a dramatic silver couture look at the opening ceremony. The appearance marked her fifth consecutive year at Cannes.
Rautela wore a gown by Vietnamese fashion label JoliPoli Couture. The outfit featured a sheer body-hugging silhouette with heavy silver embellishments, crystals, beads, and architectural stone-work across the bodice. The gown also included lavender-toned mesh detailing and sweeping sheer cape sleeves that created a flowing effect on the red carpet.
She paired the outfit with a bird-inspired maang tika-style headpiece with sparkling tassels and oversized earrings.
Speaking to Brut at the event, Rautela shared her emotions about representing India on the global stage.
"Whenever I represent my country, I'm no more Urvashi, I'm India... I'm wearing this very beautiful designer from Vietnam called JoliPoli and it's my pleasure to represent my country India at the opening ceremony of Cannes Film Festival 2026."
She also said, “It's my fifth year in a row. I feel very proud, and I've always represented my country in the best possible manner... Today is going to be truly special.”
Rautela first attended Cannes in 2022 and has since become known for her bold and maximalist fashion choices, including her famous alligator necklace in 2023 and parrot-shaped clutch in 2025.
