KL RAHUL, one of India’s premier batters, is set to miss the upcoming tour of England due to a groin injury and will fly instead to Germany for treatment.
Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah confirmed to Cricbuzz on Thursday (16) that the board was working on Rahul’s fitness and he would be going to Germany.
The Indian team is set to play one Test (part of the five-match series that was played last year but halted after a Covid outbreak in the Indian camp), three T20 internationals and as many one-day internationals during the series starting next month.

However, Rahul received more flak than sympathy over his injury before the all-important Test match in Edgbaston. India have rested a number of senior players including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah after a taxing Indian Premier League (IPL) season so that they can start fresh in Edgbaston.

Twitter went after Rahul over the news of his absence in England and even mocked him saying he was getting ready for the next season of the IPL, a tournament in which he consistently scores high runs.
Rahul was set to lead India in the ongoing T20 international series against South Africa at home but a last-minute injury in the nets ruled the 30-year-old out of the series. People had expected him to recover before the England series for the Test challenge but that is not going to happen now.
The fans were furious. Rahul’s absence means India would have to look for answers since he had given India solid starts with Rohit Sharma in the Test series last year which India are leading 2-1 at the moment after conceding the first Test.
Fans vented their frustration on Twitter making it clear that they are not happy with the fact that while the players get injured ahead of an important international series, they play the IPL without any discomfort.
“He will be ready for next IPL to score another useless 700-800 runs. Overrated !!” one fan wrote on Twitter targeting Rahul.
