INDIAN spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev was on Wednesday (26) discharged from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in New Delhi where he underwent an emergency brain surgery on March 17.

The 66-year-old had been experiencing severe headaches for a few weeks but continued with his social commitments, including carrying out the rituals on the occasion of Mahashivratri on March 8.

On March 15, the guru went for an MRI scan, his Isha Foundation said in a statement, and reports said that he had serious bleeding in brain. Yet, he attended a media conclave on March 16 taking powerful painkillers and sedation.

But his situation got worse, necessitating the surgery the very next day. According to reports, Sadhguru’s neurological status deteriorated along with weakness in the left leg. His headache also increased and had recurrent vomiting. Within a few hours of his admission in the hospital, he underwent the surgery so that the internal bleeding was stopped.

Dr Sangita Reddy, joint managing director – Apollo Hospitals Group, who met Sadhguru in the hospital, said the doctors were satisfied with his pace of recovery and healing. She said his spirit never dropped even as he recovered.

“His commitment to the global good, his sharp mind and his sense of humour are all intact. I think this is good news for all the millions of people who have been enquiring about his health,” she said.

A video was posted on Sadhguru’s X account showing him greeting people with folded hands outside the hospital.

Several people, including prime minister Narendra Modi, prayed for Sadhguru’s speedy recovery after the news of his illness broke and also spoke to him. The guru responded to the PM in his own witty style.

Hashtags like #Sadhguru #SpeedyRecovery were doing rounds on X, showing people’s hopeful anticipation for the spiritual leader’s steady progress.

It also thanked all the well-wishers who prayed for Sadhguru’s recovery.

The Foundation is also immensely thankful for the outpouring of love and support that Sadhguru has received from everyone during this time.

Another video was also uploaded on Sadhuguru’s X account in which he was seen reading a newspaper wearing spectacles as a slow melody played in the background.

The 19-second footage also showed the right side of his head being bandaged.

On March 23, Sadhguru’s X handle was updated with a poem “Lost Me in You”, that read as “In extreme pain and pleasure, In ultra-exuberance and equanimity. This science of knowing the inner mechanics has never let me down for a moment. Living a life of extreme discipline and abandon, having hit the peaks, valleys and plains, why am I still here. Just love for You, You and You and love for all that moves and doesn’t. An overwhelming love from all of You. Forever grateful to be wrapped in your love. Where is You and me as a while since I lost me in You.”
