KENYA Tourism Board (KTB) on Thursday (23) said that the African country has reopened its border for travellers from India after it was closed for some time due to the outbreak of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The temporary ban which was put on passenger flights from India was lifted after it was brought into effect in May after the wave took a devastating shape, KTB said in a statement.

Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) said flights could now resume between India and Kenya, two countries that have considerable links in various fields, to give an impetus to travelling which was hit by the pandemic.

It also said that travellers from India are exempted from undergoing quarantine in Kenya if they are in possession of negative results of PCR-based Covid-19 tests conducted 96 hours before travel.

To enhance mitigation measures against the pandemic, the visa-application process will continue to be online.

The statement also said that the yellow fever vaccine continues to be a mandate for each Indian visitor across all age groups. The travellers would also need to possess a valid vaccine card upon their arrival into Kenya.

Kenya is currently one of the few long-haul destinations open for Indians and KTB has continued to attract travellers to visit the country through marketing programmes, including digital campaigns, radio contests and webinars, among others, throughout the year.

The flight schedule between India and Kenya continues to be three direct flights between Mumbai and Nairobi each week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, KTB added.
