Na Hong-jin’s 'Hope' to hit Indian screens in October with 'The Wailing' star Hwang Jung-min

Na Hong-jin’s Korean sci-fi thriller Hope is set to arrive in Indian theaters on October 23 after its planned September release was pushed back to complete the certification process.

The film premiered in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and has been set for a worldwide rollout through November.

Hope gets October release in India

The English version of Hope has now been approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any cuts. The certification process for the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions is still underway.

Directed by Na Hong-jin, the filmmaker behind The Chaser, The Yellow Sea and The Wailing, the movie is set in a remote port town where a mysterious creature threatens a local community.

The story follows a village police chief and his rookie deputy as they try to protect residents after wildfires cut off communications. At the same time, a hunting party in the mountains finds itself being hunted.

Hwang Jung-min leads a star-studded cast

The cast is led by Hwang Jung-min, known internationally for The Wailing, alongside Zo In-sung, who has starred in Moving and It's Okay, That's Love, and Jung Ho-yeon, best known globally for Squid Game.

Hollywood stars Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander and Taylor Kitsch are also part of the ensemble, giving the Korean thriller an international cast.

Hope begins its global release

The film's international rollout begins this week, with releases in the UK, Sweden, Switzerland and Ireland. It will then reach markets including Argentina, Germany, France and Spain in October, with further releases planned through November.

Hope is presented by Plus M Entertainment and produced by Forged Films in co-production with Plus M Entertainment and Westworld. Star Entertainment Pvt Ltd is handling its release in India.
