‘Thalaivar 170’: Rajinikanth and Big B wrap Mumbai schedule
The film is expected to hit the big screens in mid-2024.
Legendary Indian actors Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan wrapped up the Mumbai schedule of their upcoming film Thalaivar 170.
Bankrolled under the banner of Lyca Productions, the film reunites the two after a massive gap of 33 years.
They previously shared the screen space in such blockbuster films as Hum, Andhaa Kaanoon, and Geraftaar. Their last collaboration, Hum, hit the screens in 1991.
Taking to X, Lyca Productions shared a picture from the sets of Thalaivar 170 and announced the schedule wrap.
Thalaivar 170 is being directed by TJ Gnanavel. In addition to Rajinikanth and Big B, the film also features Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, Tushara Vijayan, Rana Daggubati, and Fahadh Faasil on the cast.
Not much is known about the plotline of the film, but if reports are to be believed, Rajinikanth is expected to play a retired police officer in the film.
The film’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and it is expected to hit the big screens in mid-2024.
Rajinikanth was most recently seen in Jailer, which turned out to be a massive success at the box office.
Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, was most recently seen in Vikas Bahl’s Ganapath: A Hero is Born alongside Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon.
His next projects include the sci-fi action thriller film Kalki 2898 AD and a courtroom drama film, Section 84.
Earlier, Rajinikanth took to social media to express his joy at collaborating with Amitabh Bachchan once again after more than three decades. He wrote, “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s Thalaivar 170, directed by T.J Gnanavel. My heart is brimming with joy!”
