Yash Raj Films has released the action-packed trailer for Alpha, the latest installment in the YRF Spy Universe. Starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead roles, the film marks a major shift for the franchise by putting female spies at the center of the story. With intense action, emotional stakes, and a surprise appearance from Hrithik Roshan’s Major Kabir, the trailer has sparked excitement among fans and raised an interesting question: can Alpha match or even surpass the popularity of War?
The trailer introduces Alia Bhatt as Sita, a deadly assassin raised by Bobby Deol’s character, Fateh. From childhood, Sita is trained to become a ruthless weapon. However, she eventually turns against the man who created her. Through a voiceover, Sita compares her story to the Ramayana, describing Fateh as a demon who abducted a princess. Unlike the traditional tale, this Sita decides to fight her own battle and destroy Fateh’s Lanka herself.
The trailer showcases Alia in a powerful action role, performing high-intensity combat sequences and dangerous missions. Sharvari joins her as a fellow agent, playing a much bigger role than many fans expected after her brief appearance in the teaser. Their partnership forms the heart of the film as they take on a common enemy.
Bobby Deol plays Fateh, a former spy seeking revenge against the nation. One of the trailer’s key moments comes when he declares, “India ne Alpha ki kadar nahi ki, ab India Alpha se darega (India did not respect Alpha, now India will fear Alpha).” His conflict with Sita drives much of the story.
Veteran actor Anil Kapoor also appears in the trailer, seemingly guiding the two agents on their mission. The film combines large-scale action, espionage, and emotional drama, all familiar elements of the YRF Spy Universe.
The biggest surprise comes at the end of the trailer. In a brief scene, viewers see only the eyes of a mysterious figure. Fans quickly recognized them as Hrithik Roshan’s Major Kabir Dhaliwal from War and War 2. His appearance suggests that Kabir will play a role in helping Sita and Sharvari complete their mission.
The cameo immediately became one of the trailer’s most talked-about moments. Many fans praised the action sequences and visual effects, while others expressed excitement about seeing Kabir return to the franchise.
Directed by Shiv Rawail and produced by Aditya Chopra, Alpha stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor in key roles. It is the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe, following Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and War 2.
Whether Alpha can surpass War remains to be seen. Hrithik Roshan’s Major Kabir remains one of the franchise’s most popular characters, but Alpha brings something new to the table. With Alia Bhatt leading the action, Sharvari as her partner, and a story centered on female spies, the film has the opportunity to expand the universe in a fresh direction. The answer will come when Alpha hits theaters worldwide on July 3.
