When India’s Got Latent Season 2 premiered, many viewers expected the focus to be on celebrity judges such as Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh.

Instead, the biggest talking point became a comedian few mainstream viewers knew by name.

Avinash Agarwal, who brands himself online as the “Indian Trump,” emerged as the breakout star of the season opener. His Donald Trump impersonation dominated online discussions and quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from the episode.

What makes Agarwal’s rise especially notable is that it did not come from a new career in comedy. While many viewers are only discovering him now, he has spent years performing across India.

Agarwal works as a stand-up comedian, writer, voice artist, and event host. According to information available through his public profiles, he comes from a theater and performing arts background and has written and performed in more than 200 live shows.

His career has also extended beyond stand-up comedy.

Over the years, he has hosted events featuring well-known personalities including Manisha Koirala, Abhay Deol, Johnny Lever, and Anurag Kashyap. He has also worked on script-writing assignments involving Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra.

One lesser-known part of his background is his experience as a public speaker. Agarwal represented India at the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking in the United States, where he finished among the top 30 speakers in the world.

That experience may help explain why his performance felt different from a typical comedy set. Rather than breaking character, he maintained his Trump-inspired voice, mannerisms, and delivery throughout the act.

His jokes targeted both the judges and recent internet controversies.

One of the most widely shared moments came when he said, "I'm just glad you don't have the other guy, Ranveer Barbadia. He creeps me out."

He then looked at Alia Bhatt and added, "Not your Ranbir, he's a nice guy".

The joke referenced the controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia’s appearance during the show's previous season, which generated significant backlash.

Agarwal continued with a series of roast-style jokes.

When Alia Bhatt struggled to respond to one of his remarks, he quipped, "Somebody give her a script and a director."

Later, he followed up with, "Somebody give her an action director."

He also joked to Sharvari Wagh, "Don't shout. I don't like women get empowered," while staying in character as Trump.

The comments drew loud reactions from both the audience and the judging panel.

The performance also earned strong scores. Alia Bhatt, comedian Ashish Solanki, and Balraj Ghai reportedly awarded him perfect scores of 10. Sharvari gave him a 9.5.

The high marks helped secure Agarwal’s victory in the Season 2 premiere.

The show's impact extended beyond the stage. As clips of the performance spread online, interest in Agarwal surged. His Instagram following climbed to around 140,000 as viewers searched for the comedian behind the viral act.

For many fans, the biggest surprise was not that a Trump impersonation worked. It was that a performer with years of experience in comedy, writing, public speaking, and live entertainment suddenly became the most discussed person in a room full of celebrities.
