Born as Ravindra Shyam Narayan Shukla on July 17, 1969, in Mumbai, Ravi Kishan's family traces its roots to Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh. Following difficulties in the family's dairy business, they moved back to Jaunpur when he was young. Growing up, he developed a passion for acting and often portrayed Sita in local Ramleela performances, despite strong opposition from his father.
At 17, encouraged by his mother, he left for Mumbai with just Rs. 500 to pursue an acting career. After years of struggle, he gradually established himself as one of the biggest stars of Bhojpuri cinema before expanding into Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films.
The show that made him a household name
While Ravi Kishan had already built a successful film career, his reach expanded dramatically when he hosted Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka, a reality television series centered on past-life regression.
The show, which aired between 2009 and 2011, featured guests seeking answers to fears or unexplained experiences through guided regression sessions conducted by psychologist Dr. Trupti Jayin. With Ravi Kishan serving as the host, the program became one of the most talked-about reality shows on Indian television, drawing celebrities as well as ordinary participants.

Off camera, the 57-year-old follows a disciplined lifestyle. Speaking recently about his daily routine, he said, "Kasrat roz kare. Positive roz rahe. Roz daure. Ho sake toh khali apne sharir ko pyaar kare."
He also described his vegetarian diet, saying, "Main toh vegetarian hoon, pure vegetarian. Main toh kuch bhi nahi leta. Aisa kuch nahi ki anda khane se protein milta hai, maine veg mein aise bohot sare chhezein dhoondh liye hai, raw vegetables."
Ravi Kishan added that he no longer drinks dairy milk, explaining, "Doodh nahi peena. Doodh bohot peeta tha. Ab main nariyel ko grind karke coconut milk peeta hoon. Ab main woh milk nahi peeta, ab main nariyel ka doodh peeta hoon. Ek nariyel mein mujhe ek glass doodh milta hai."
Sharing a glimpse of his workout routine, he revealed, "Bahar aane ke pehle 200 dand mar liye aur taichi kar rahe ajkal, taichi."
More than three decades after arriving in Mumbai with little more than determination, Ravi Kishan has reinvented himself yet again.
