Danish Pandor is following his breakout turn in Dhurandhar with a very different challenge, joining one of Bollywood’s most anticipated reunions.
The actor, who played Pakistani gangster Uzair Baloch in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, has joined Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming period sports drama Lalkaara.
The project marks Aamir and Gowariker’s first major collaboration since Lagaan, making Pandor’s latest casting an interesting next step for the rising actor.
From Dhurandhar gangster to the cricket field
Pandor is reportedly set to play one of Aamir’s friends in Lalkaara, although details about his character are being kept under wraps.
The film is set against the backdrop of the historic 1952 India-Pakistan Test series. Aamir plays Lala Amarnath, independent India’s first Test captain, with the story exploring friendship, rivalry and national pride in post-Partition India.
For Pandor, the role represents a major change from the dark world of Dhurandhar. His performance as Uzair Baloch brought him wider attention, and Lalkaara could give audiences a chance to see another side of the actor.
A reunion carrying huge Lagaan expectations
Much of the excitement around Lalkaara comes from Aamir and Gowariker working together again.
Their previous collaboration, Lagaan, became one of the most celebrated Indian sports dramas and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
