AR Rahman receives prestigious Academy of Achievement Award, honored by Peter Jackson

Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has added another major honor to his illustrious career, receiving the Academy of Achievement Award in Washington, D.C., where he was presented the recognition by acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson.

Music composer AR Rahman has been honored with the prestigious Academy of Achievement Award, adding another milestone to his remarkable career that spans more than three decades.

The celebrated musician shared the news with fans on social media platform X, posting photographs of the Golden Plate award he received from acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson. Expressing his gratitude, Rahman wrote, "I am deeply humbled to receive the Academy of Achievement Award this evening."


The Academy of Achievement is a Washington-based nonprofit organization that recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions in fields including arts, science, business, public service, and leadership. Its Golden Plate Award is regarded as one of the organization's highest honors and has previously been presented to influential figures from around the world.

At 59, Rahman is widely considered one of India's most influential and successful music composers. His work has shaped modern Indian cinema and earned recognition on the global stage. Over the years, he has composed memorable soundtracks for numerous critically acclaimed and commercially successful films.

His extensive filmography includes classics such as Roja, Bombay, Taal, Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, Guru, Jodhaa Akbar, Rockstar, Highway, and Tamasha. Most recently, he worked on Main Vaapas Aaunga.

Rahman's international breakthrough came with Danny Boyle's 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire. His work on the film earned him two Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for "Jai Ho." The soundtrack also won him two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, and a Golden Globe, cementing his place among the world's most celebrated composers.

The latest recognition further highlights Rahman's lasting impact on music and cinema, both in India and around the world. As he continues to create and inspire, the Academy of Achievement Award stands as another testament to his extraordinary artistic legacy.
