BOARD of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly was on Monday (27) admitted to a hospital in Kolkata in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal after testing positive for Covid-19.

The 49-year-old, who has received both the doses of the vaccine, has been travelling extensively and taking part in various professional activities.

He was taken to the hospital late on Monday night as precautionary measure after his RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) test returned positive. Ganguly’s wife Dona and daughter Sana tested negative.

“He was taken to Woodlands Nursing Home last night. He has been given medication and is currently stable,” a BCCI source, who is keeping track of Ganguly’s health, told the Press Trust of India.

Earlier this year, the former India captain was admitted to hospital twice where he underwent emergency angioplasty after reporting chest conditions.

His elder brother Snehashish Gandguly, who is also a former first-class cricketer, had also tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this year.
