AFTER a shaky start to this IPL season, Mumbai Indians have improved their performance and registered their sixth consecutive win on Thursday (1) with an emphatic 100-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur.

Skipper Hardik Pandya attributes the team’s dream run to discipline and ‘simple cricket’.

“Everyone is very clear and we are going back to simple cricket. It is working for us, and hopefully it continues. We want to be humble, very disciplined, and keep focusing,” said Hardik at the post-match presentation.

“It is never about people getting chances; it’s about what is required in the situation. People are going back to batsmanship. As a group, the way we batted was proper batsmanship.”

In their match against Rajasthan, openers Rohit Sharma scored 53 off 36 balls and Ryan Rickelton 61 off 38 balls, before Suryakumar Yadav (48 not out off 23) and Hardik Pandya (48 not out off 23) went on the offensive to power Mumbai Indians to 217 for two.

Rohit, who did not start the tournament well, has now found his feet and helping the Mumbai Indians get a good start.

Rajasthan stand-in skipper Riyan Parag admitted that the Mumbai batters took the game away from them.

“We have to give credit to the way Mumbai played. The way they batted, took the game a little deep, kept the 10 runs per over consistency and accelerated in the end. As far as our batting is concerned it wasn’t our day,” he said.

Mumbai Indians have scored seven wins from 11 matches and another victory should be enough to secure a playoffs berth for the five-time champions.

For Rajasthan, it was their eighth defeat in 11 games, and they are out of reckoning for a playoff.
