Kangana Ranaut became the center of marriage rumors after a video of her wearing sindoor, a mangalsutra, and green bangles went viral on social media. Many fans and online users believed the actor and BJP MP had secretly gotten married. However, the actress later cleared up the confusion and explained that the look was only for a film shoot.
The video spread quickly on Instagram and X. In the clip, Kangana was seen dressed in a pink traditional outfit with sindoor in her hair parting and green bangles on both wrists. The appearance strongly resembled that of a married woman. Since there was no explanation or caption attached to the video, many people on social media assumed that she had quietly tied the knot.
Kangana later responded to the rumors through her Instagram Stories. She wrote, “I am filming in and around the city every single day, someone clicked this random picture with character make up and now i am getting so many phone calls, but what is the big deal about the married woman look? Actors play all kinds of roles, I won’t marry secretly I promise.”
There is no evidence that Kangana has gotten married. The 36-year-old actor has not announced any engagement, relationship, or wedding. In an interview with ANI in 2023, Kangana had said that she wanted to get married and have a family someday, but added that it would happen “at the right time.”
Many people now believe the viral look was from the set of Queen Forever, the sequel to Kangana’s 2014 hit film Queen. The sequel is currently being filmed in South Mumbai. Reports say that Kangana began shooting for the movie earlier this month under director Vikas Bahl. A set representing the lead character’s home was reportedly built in the Grant Road area for filming.
Kangana is returning as Rani, the same small-town Delhi girl she played in the original film. Fans believe the married look fits naturally with the possible direction of Rani’s life many years after the events of Queen. Kangana had publicly confirmed the sequel in April and announced that she would once again work with director Vikas Bahl. Along with directing the movie, Bahl is also writing and co-producing it through Trigger Happy Studios.
Unlike the first film, which followed Rani’s journey through Paris and Amsterdam, the sequel will remain set in India. Reports suggest the story follows Rani in Mumbai after a major life event and focuses on her personal journey and self-discovery.
Actors Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon, who were part of the original film, will not return for the sequel. Director Vikas Bahl has reportedly cast a new group of actors, many of whom come from theater backgrounds.
