The match, taking place on 5 September between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers at Corinthians Arena, will be streamed free worldwide as YouTube’s first exclusive live NFL broadcast.
Game details and broadcast schedule
The Week 1 fixture will see the reigning AFC champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, take on the Los Angeles Chargers. Coverage begins with YouTube’s pre-game show at 4 pm PT / 7 pm ET / 8 pm BRT, with kick-off at 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET / 9 pm BRT.
KAROL G’s reaction
“I’m so excited to be part of YouTube’s first-ever NFL live broadcast, it’s truly an honour and a moment I’m so proud to be part of,” said KAROL G. “I’ve watched many NFL halftime shows over the years and now having this opportunity to bring my music to this global stage means the world to me.”
Record-breaking career
A member of YouTube’s “Billion-View Club” with almost 30 billion views, KAROL G’s latest album Tropicoqueta has surpassed one billion streams and produced multiple chart-topping singles. Her music video for “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido” has over 947 million YouTube views, and she has achieved four consecutive No. 1 entries on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.
Statements from YouTube and NFL
Angela Courtin, YouTube’s Vice President of connected TV and creative studio marketing, said the broadcast would be “a landmark moment” for the platform’s partnership with the NFL, blending football, music and creator culture.
Tim Tubito, NFL senior director for global game presentation and entertainment, added: “With our incredible NFL fan base in Brazil and across the world, we worked hand-in-hand with our YouTube partners to tap into the larger Latin pop music scene with an innovative, global artist.”
Additional performances and features
Local Brazilian star Ana Castela will perform the Brazilian national anthem (Hino Nacional Brasileiro), while American composer and jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington will perform the US national anthem. The broadcast will also feature top YouTube creators, with more talent announcements expected later in August.
Partnership background
The NFL and YouTube partnership, now in its third season with NFL Sunday Ticket, continues to expand the sport’s reach through digital platforms. Last year, audiences watched over 350 million hours of official NFL content on YouTube.
