Speaking to reporters on the occasion of inauguration of the Lulu mall in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, on Thursday (16), Ali, who was born in the state, said the company will build more malls in Kozhikode and Kottayam cities in Kerala.

It was also learnt that a fish-processing unit will be set up in Kochi to procure fish from the fishermen and sell through Lulu Malls overseas. Ali said an assembly centre of electronic equipment will also be made in Thiruvananthapuram once the Vizhinjam port in southern Kerala becomes functional.

The mall in the Kerala capital was halted for two years and the Rs 220 crore (£21.6 million)-project was inaugurated by the state’s chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

A number of top leaders, including minister of state for external affairs V Muraleedharan, Thiruvananthapuram member of parliament Shashi Tharoor, Kerala state opposition leader V D Satheesan and guests from Gulf countries attended the ceremony.
